Known for its vibrant atmosphere and rich history, the casino sought to elevate the guest experience further, tasking Worth Group to envision a design that would seamlessly blend the old with the new, and Fabricoil® coiled wire fabric from Cascade Architectural was chosen to play a pivotal role in the design through the incorporation of an architectural ceiling treatment with integrated LED lighting.

Elevating the Guest Experience

Worth Group Architects & Designers, in collaboration with the casino management, identified key design objectives for the expansion including enhancing guest experience, ensuring durability through the use of quality materials, and achieving aesthetic excellence that accentuated the well-established Sugar Creek brand. With its modern design, the expanded gaming floor aimed extend guest's stay through an immersive and comfortable experience crafted in a blend of luxury and entertainment, with every detail serving a purpose, and a significant part of this design was the inclusion of an architectural mesh ceiling treatment with integrated LED lighting that not only adds to the space's aesthetic, but provides an essential screening function that helps to hide the acoustic ceiling panels and utilities wherever possible.

Using woven wire fabric for architectural mesh ceiling design is both visually appealing and durable—both essential elements to the gaming floor expansion given the high traffic and activity expected in the casino. Over 2,600 square feet of Fabricoil coiled wire fabric from Cascade Architectural was manufactured to specification using 5/16" 15-gauge aluminum mesh panels mounted to Cascade's pre-engineered Hook with Steel Angle attachment system, designed in collaboration with Cascade's in-house experts to significantly reduce the design team's workload in early project stages. The Fabricoil woven wire mesh material was then powder-coated in two colors, a custom RAL 5021 finish and a standard Cascade Blue finish, to create a beautiful mix of finishes that compliment the space's aesthetic and reflect the Sugar Creek brand perfectly.

Functionality

Beyond its aesthetic appeal, the metal mesh drapery was strategically chosen, offering both durability in a high-traffic setting and versatility in design, ensuring it would complement the casino's dynamic environment well. The Fabricoil woven wire mesh material was shaped into various forms that help to draw traffic through the busy casino environment by accentuating the flow of movement through the space and helping to highlight key entertainment areas. Fabricoil weave's inherent open area allows for free air movement throughout the space, ensuring the material could withstand the test of time inside the heavy-use environment where ventilation is key.
